Prairie Valley Farm is located five miles west of Platte, South Dakota on Highway 44. It is owned and operated by David Mason.
In 1980, the late Clarence Mason, David's father, began a Charolais herd, and now David and hired men, Ron Sly, Rod DeGroot and Lloyd Timmerman have expanded his herd to include 200 spring cows and 100 fall cows.
David's niece, Courtney, joined as bookkeeper in 2014, and her husband, Lyndon DeVries, joined the family business in November of 2016.
Since 1989, Prairie Valley Farm has been selecting their top bull calves to sell at their annual bull sale in April.
They also feed some customers' cattle and finish their own calves. The grain enterprise of Prairie Valley Farm consists of growing corn, wheat, beans and hay.
